`The Jamiat Ulema-e-Vind filed a petition in the Supreme Court on May 22, 2025 challenging the Food Processing Department’s decision to ban certain products without providing any valid reason. Train Derailment Foiled: Two Madrasa Boys’ Plot Thwarted in Time
In Hoi, Uttar Pradesh, police arrested two minor boys from a local madrasa for attempting to derail a train. An FIR has been registered against them. According to the police, the boys had first stolen parts of the railway track near the Bahani Chungi Overhead Bridge. They then used the stolen materials to tamper with the railway track by lifting and removing the iron rods, posing a serious threat to railway safety. Fortunately, the plan was uncovered in time, preventing a potential accident.
Madrasa Busted as Fake Currency Hub, Manager Among 5 Held
In Shawwi, Utpad, police arrested Mukul Ali Uttam, the key accused in a fake currency racket, along with his associates. He was found operating a counterfeit currency printing setup from his residence. According to officials, one of his wives was also involved in the operation. Together, they printed fake currency notes worth ₹34,500 and used ₹14,500 in genuine currency to run their illegal activities. During the raid, authorities seized two laptops, a printer, and a cartridge used for printing the counterfeit notes. The case is currently under further investigation.
Train Sabotage Training Uncovered at Madrasa Medini
In connection with the conspiracy to derail trains in Jhansi and Kanpur, investigative agencies UNAI and Puri have uncovered links pointing to a coordinated network. According to sources, a group of youth was allegedly being radicalized online and planning to carry out the sabotage through digital communication platforms. Acting on these leads, the authorities arrested the main accused, Mufi Khawalid, for his involvement in the plot.
In a separate case, police arrested two individuals associated with the Madrasa Samiti in Kannur for their suspected involvement in a cyber fraud operation. Both investigations are ongoing, with further action expected. In Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh, police arrested two individuals associated with the Madrasa Samiti of Kannur on charges of involvement in a major cyber fraud case. The accused allegedly transferred ₹1.5 crore, obtained through cyber fraud, into madrasa-related bank accounts. Investigations revealed that in at least nine cases linked to the accused, around 50% of the defrauded amount was deposited into these accounts. Authorities are continuing their probe to uncover the full extent of the financial network involved.
Dharamshala Case: Umar Gautam and 11 Others Sentenced to Life Imprisonment
In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, 12 people, including Umar Gautam, have been sentenced to life imprisonment in an illegal smuggling case. Four other accused were given ten-year jail terms. Umar Gautam and Mufi Qazi Jahangir Alam Qazmi were arrested by the UP Police on June 20, 2021. Umar Gautam’s organization claimed to help deaf and mute students and poor people in religious matters. However, the accused were also involved in sending money through illegal hawala channels. They exploited poor women and boys by taking advantage of their economic weakness without any fear.

In Prayagraj, fake currency notes were being printed at the Dwamia Bibiyya Madrasa located in Asuiya. Upon receiving this information, the Prayagraj Development Authority (PDA) sealed the building. On August 28, 2024, the PCP Basri team conducted a raid and found three individuals printing counterfeit 100-rupee notes. During the raid, the authorities recovered the printing machine along with fake notes worth ₹1,30,000. The madrasa building, covering an area of 300 square meters, was found to have 10 people inside. It was also discovered that ₹70 was being charged for services there, and the establishment was not registered with the authorities.

Deoband Ex-Student Abul Awal Arrested in Delhi for Terror Wing Links
In Uttar Pradesh, Suresh stated that Abu Awal, a resident of Nabli and a former student of Shah Rukh Khan University in Dehradun, is accused of inciting unrest under the guise of provocative and terrorist activities. For the past five years, Abu Awal has been living in Shamli Nagar, Jamia Nagar, Omdra, New Delhi, where he completed his 12th grade from a local school.
Separately, Mohammad Rizwan Ashraf, a resident of Maila Mohalla near Muslim College in Faridpur district, Uttar Pradesh, was killed in a terrorist attack on October 3, 2023. Ashraf, linked to an Islamic group, had worked for about eight years at the Bilariaganj Sast Madrasa in Azamgarh district. Since 2022, under the direction of the Halal Shanti Bhavan in Bavda, he and his associates, Danawaz Alam and another individual known as Jawan, had been collecting large quantities of a blue-colored material as part of their efforts toward a specific objective related to this material.
NIA Conducts Raid at Memsahib’s Residence in Gonda, UP
The National Investigation Agency (NIA), in collaboration with the UP Crime team led by accused Bansal, conducted a raid at the residence of Memsahib in Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. During the search, authorities recovered gold ornaments, mobile phones, memory cards, cameras, and other items. This raid, carried out on January 21, 2023, was part of an ongoing investigation into the funding of the Falah-e-Insabnay Foundation, following the arrest of Mohammad Hasan Molani from Nagaur, Jaipur.
