After the BJP secured victories in three assembly elections, 10 winning MPs have resigned from Parliament. Two other MPs, Baba Balaknath and Renuka Singh, did not attend the session. BJP President J.P. Nadda led the delegation during a meeting with PM Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankar.
Resignations were reportedly decided after discussions with JP Nadda and PM Modi. BJP leader Pralhad Singh Patel, elected as an MLA from Madhya Pradesh’s Narsinghpur, confirmed his resignation as an MP and future cabinet minister.
Former Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Minister of State Prahlad Singh Patel, and Lok Sabha MPs Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap, and Riti Pathak also resigned after winning in Madhya Pradesh. Lok Sabha MPs Arun Sao and Gomati Sai resigned after victories in Chhattisgarh, while Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, Diya Kumari, and Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena resigned after wins in Rajasthan.
The BJP, relying on the party’s strength and PM Narendra Modi’s charisma, refrained from projecting Chief Ministerial candidates in the states. The party secured a record victory in Madhya Pradesh, reclaiming power after 18 of the past 20 years, showcasing organizational strength and leadership popularity.
Rajasthan continued the trend of rotating governments, with the BJP defeating the Congress government led by Ashok Gehlot. Chhattisgarh witnessed a strong BJP comeback despite expectations of Congress success, attributed to an assertive campaign and aligning promises with the Congress.
