In November 2023, Israel’s Central Bureau of Statistics shared information about the total number of people who came to Israel from other countries. The data revealed a significant decrease, with more than a 90% drop in the number of tourists compared to November 2022, mainly due to the war in Gaza. Only 39,000 visitors arrived in Israel during this period, a stark contrast to the 369,800 recorded in the same month the previous year. Notably, 42.1% of these visitors were from the United States.
Out of the total arrivals, 38,300 were tourists, emphasizing the considerable decline from the 330,700 tourists who visited Israel in November 2022. The impact of the conflict in Gaza had a substantial effect on the tourism numbers for the month.
Simultaneously, the Central Bureau of Statistics also provided data on Israelis leaving the country in November 2023. The numbers indicated a more than 75% decrease in travelers compared to the same month in 2022. A total of 148,700 Israelis departed during November 2023, a significant drop from the 645,300 departures in November 2022. Notably, 93% of these departures were made by air, totaling 137,800 individuals.
In summary, the statistics reflect a notable decline in both tourist arrivals to Israel and the departure of Israelis abroad in November 2023, largely attributed to the impact of the war in Gaza.
