Anumula Revanth Reddy, president of Telangana Congress, is all set to take oath as the new Chief Minister of Telangana in a grandiose ceremony at Hyderabad’s Lal Bahadur Stadium on December 7 at 1:04 pm.
Subsequently, 12 other ministers including Uttam Kumar Reddy, Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Damodar Rajanarasimha, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, Dana Anasuya, Tummala Nageswar Rao, Konda Surekha and Jupally Krishna Rao will also be undertaking oath with Revanth Reddy. Undertaking another oath will be Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, who has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana.
‘Tiger Revanth’, popularly referred to by his followers, left N Chandrababu Naidu’s Telugu Desam Party and joined Congress. Reddy was the face of Congress against the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and KCR in Bharat’s youngest State of Telangana where he was successful in presenting Congress with a landslide victory of 64 seats out of the total 119 seats. Reddy is one of the most vocal critics of BRS and also of the former CM K Chandrasekhar Rao.
In attendance of the swearing-in ceremony will be Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, MP Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra along with Congress leader Deepender Hooda. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah and his Deputy DK Shivakumar’s presence are also expected. Invites have been extended to Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin along with alliance leaders such as Omar Abdullah, D Raja and Derek O’ Brien. Looking at the masses, over 1 lakh people are expected to attend the ceremony.
Chief Minister-elect Reddy contested from two seats – Kamareddy and Kodangal, in the assembly elections. Reddy was facing KCR on the Kamareddy seat but the heavyweights lost the election to BJP’s Katipally Venkata Ramana Reddy. Revanth Reddy was victorious in the Kodangal seat.
Reddy will sign a file fulfilling poll guarantees in his first order of business after taking charge of the office. The Chief Minister-elect will offer the first job to a 38-year-old woman he had promised.
