Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma honored 23 distinguished literary figures from the state with Literary Awards and Pensions on the birth anniversary of Sahitya Akademi award winner Homen Borgohain.
The awards were presented during a ceremony organized by the Higher Education department of the state government, recognizing the significant contributions of these litterateurs to Assam’s literary field.
Every year, the state government acknowledges writers from various languages and regions within Assam for their enriching discussions and creative contributions to literature.
Assam Education Minister Dr. Ranoj Pegu shared his presence at the Chief Minister’s Office Auditorium during this special event. He expressed happiness in felicitating the eminent litterateurs and extended his congratulations to all the awardees.
The 23 honored litterateurs include recipients of Sahitya Academy Awards, senior authors, and noted poets from various districts such as Baksa, Cachar, Dhemaji, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Golaghat, Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Kokrajhar, Sivasagar, and Sonitpur. Their diverse contributions span across different languages and literary forms, showcasing the rich literary landscape of Assam.
