ATEEZ, the awesome K-pop group, just hit a major milestone by grabbing the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart with their latest album, ‘THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL’. This marks their first time at the top, and they did it big, pulling in 152,000 equivalent album units in the U.S. during the week ending on December 7. What’s even more impressive is that a whopping 146,000 of those units came from traditional album sales, setting a new record for the group.
This album, ‘THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL’, is ATEEZ’s fourth consecutive top 10 entry on the Billboard 200, showcasing their consistent popularity and growing influence in the music scene. Their previous release, ‘THE WORLD EP.2: OUTLAW’, had reached the second position in July. What’s interesting is that ATEEZ achieved this without any charting singles on U.S. Billboard airplay or streaming charts, including the prestigious Billboard Hot 100 or global charts like Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S.
In the midst of the holiday season, some classic tunes are making a comeback, like Nat King Cole’s ‘The Christmas Song’, which jumped back into the top 10 of the Billboard 200. It climbed from 16th to 10th place, making it the sixth consecutive appearance in the top region during the festive period.
The Billboard 200 chart ranks the most popular albums in the U.S. weekly, using a combination of album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA), and streaming equivalent albums (SEA). One unit could be a single album sale, the sale of 10 individual tracks from an album, or a certain number of on-demand official audio and video streams. The chart dated December 16, 2023, will be fully revealed on Billboard’s website on December 12.
Breaking down ATEEZ’s success, out of the 152,000 equivalent album units earned, a whopping 146,000 came from album sales, with 99% of these being physical album purchases and 1% from digital album downloads. Streaming equivalent album (SEA) units contributed 5,500, equivalent to about 7.59 million on-demand official streams of the album’s 12 tracks. Track equivalent album (TEA) units added another 500 to the total.
ATEEZ made ‘THE WORLD EP.FIN: WILL’ available in various physical formats, offering a total of 33 unique editions. Each edition has the same 12-song tracklist but differs in packaging and includes various branded paper merchandise like photocards, some of which are randomized. The collection features 26 CD versions and seven vinyl editions, with exclusive variants available through retailers like Barnes & Noble, Target, and Walmart.
