At Mumbai airport, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) found around 1.864 kg of gold worth Rs1 crore hidden in a loader’s bag. The discovery happened during a security check on December 11, 2023, at Terminal-2’s Baggage Break up Area.
During a routine security check, CISF personnel noticed something off about a loader named Akshay Kule, who worked for Agile Airport Services. The Security Operations Control Centre (SOCC) team observed his suspicious behavior at the Baggage Break up Area through CCTV footage.
After carefully reviewing the CCTV footage, it became clear that Akshay Kule was involved in stealing smuggled gold from the check-in baggage of an incoming flight. The CISF immediately informed senior officers and customs officials, taking swift action.
Following the alert, CISF personnel thoroughly searched the area and examined Akshay Kule’s belongings. This search led to the discovery of 16 gold bars, weighing approximately 1.864 kg and valued at Rs1 crore, cleverly concealed in the loader’s bag.
The CISF handed over both the loader, Akshay Kule, and the seized gold to AIU/Customs officials for further investigation and necessary legal proceedings. This incident highlights the importance of stringent security measures at airports to prevent smuggling activities.
