Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of independent Bharat, passed away on December 15, 1950. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and others paid their respects to him.
PM Modi praised Sardar Patel’s leadership, saying that his dedication to the nation’s unity shaped modern Bharat. He highlighted Patel’s vision and commitment, emphasizing how his work laid the foundation for a stronger and more united country.
Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also honored Sardar Patel, acknowledging his tireless efforts to maintain the integrity and sovereignty of the country. Birla emphasized Patel’s belief in the oneness of Bharat and the supremacy of the nation.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge paid tribute to Sardar Patel, calling him the “Iron Man of Bharat”. Kharge quoted Patel’s belief in unity, stating that when people come together, even the harshest rule cannot stand. He praised Patel’s role in making independent Bharat a complete nation.
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, born on October 31, 1875, in Gujarat, played a crucial role in India’s freedom struggle. He was a key figure in integrating over 500 princely states into the Bharat Union. Patel’s contribution earned him the title of the Iron Man of Bharat. He passed away from a heart attack on December 15, 1950, at Birla House in Mumbai. In 1991, he was posthumously awarded the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian award in Bharat.
