The US State Department is interested in working with Bharat to help resolve conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East. The spokesperson, Mathew Miller, emphasized Bharat’s importance as a major partner for the United States. He mentioned that Secretary of State Antony Blinken has a close working relationship with Bharat’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
The Biden administration has dedicated a significant amount of time and attention to strengthening ties with India, with multiple visits and meetings between officials from both countries.
Miller expressed that the US would welcome any constructive engagement from Bharat in addressing the ongoing conflicts in Europe (Russia-Ukraine) and the Middle East (Israel-Hamas). He highlighted the positive relationship between the two countries and the importance of collaboration on global issues.
Earlier, in September, Jaishankar visited the US for nine days, holding meetings with key US officials, including Secretary of State Blinken, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, and others. The discussions covered various topics, including Bharat-US collaboration in emerging technology and building resilient supply chains. President Biden had also visited Bharat for the G20 Summit, emphasizing the need to expand ties for a comprehensive strategic partnership.
In June of the same year, Prime Minister Modi visited the US, receiving a warm welcome at the White House. He held a bilateral meeting with President Biden, leading to the signing of several new initiatives between the two countries. The engagements underscored the commitment to strengthening the relationship between Bharat and the United States.
