In recent report, the Zanskar region in Ladakh’s Kargil district has experienced two earthquakes within a span of 24 hours. The National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported that the latest quake, measuring 3.4 on the Richter Scale, struck on Tuesday at 10:31 am local time.

The first earthquake occurred the day before, registering a magnitude of 3.8 on the Richter Scale. The NCS noted that it took place around 4:01 pm, also at a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter of this quake was identified at Latitude 33.34 and Longitude 76.78.

On Tuesday morning, the second earthquake, measuring 3.4 in magnitude, hit the same region. The NCS reported that it occurred at 10:31 am, with a depth of 10 kilometers. The epicenter of this earthquake was pinpointed at Latitude 33.33 and Longitude 76.85.

Both earthquakes had their epicenters in the Zanskar region of Ladakh, specifically in Kargil district. The geographical coordinates provide a more precise location for the seismic activities—Latitude 33.33 and Longitude 76.85 for the second quake and Latitude 33.34 and Longitude 76.78 for the first.

It is noteworthy that these two earthquakes occurred within a short timeframe of 24 hours. The residents in the affected areas might be on heightened alert due to the unusual frequency of seismic activities.

The NCS shared the details of both earthquakes on its platform, emphasizing the magnitude, depth, and geographical coordinates of each event. The organization plays a crucial role in monitoring and disseminating information about seismic activities in India.

As of now, additional information is awaited to understand the full extent of the impact and any potential damage caused by these earthquakes. Local authorities and the NCS are likely to provide updates as they gather more details.

In conclusion, the recent seismic activities in the Zanskar region of Ladakh serve as a reminder of the dynamic nature of the Earth’s crust. The affected communities and relevant authorities are urged to stay vigilant and prepared for any further developments.
