The police in Jammu and Kashmir recently arrested a person named Lal Din from Rajouri district. Lal Din is accused of helping a Rohingya woman living in Narwal Bala, Jammu, in obtaining false documents. The arrested person was identified as a resident of Kampla Mohra, Rajouri. The arrest took place in the Laam area of Nowshera, and a criminal case (FIR No. 215/2023) was registered against Lal Din under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Foreigners Act.
Earlier, the police had arrested a woman named Haleema from Myanmar on October 19. However, she was released by the court on October 30. Continuing the investigation, the police searched Lal Din’s house, seizing important documents with evidentiary value related to the case.
The Jammu Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Shakti Pathak, announced on Tuesday that the police are conducting searches at various locations in the city. The focus is on individuals providing documents and plots to those who have come from outside, specifically referring to the Rohingya community, who are considered non-citizens. The DIG mentioned that seven police stations are involved in the investigations, with searches being conducted at approximately 29-30 locations in Jammu.
DIG Pathak emphasized that people in Jammu have provided plots to individuals from outside, and the police are actively investigating who is facilitating them and helping them access Bharat government facilities. The ongoing searches are aimed at examining documents and identifying those who assisted in providing them. The police also carried out searches at a Rohingya colony in the Bathindi area of Jammu earlier in the day.
