In a recent development in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, a clash ensued between security forces and Naxalites, resulting in at least five Naxalites sustaining injuries. The skirmish took place in the forests of Nagaram and Kotta Palli villages during an anti-Naxalite operation conducted by a team comprising the District Reserve Guard (DRG), CoBRA 201 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), and the Bastar Fighters—a specialized police unit combatting Left-wing extremism in Chhattisgarh.
The encounter unfolded as security forces engaged in the operation to counter Naxal activities, and explosive materials along with a significant quantity of Naxal-related items were discovered at the scene—a substantial Naxal camp. Fortunately, at present, all soldiers involved in the operation are reported to be safe, and the encounter is ongoing.
This incident follows a prior event on December 16, where four Naxalites were apprehended in connection with an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast near Sadaktola village in the Kanker district. The IED blast tragically resulted in the death of BSF Head Constable Akhilesh Kumar Rai.
As the situation continues to unfold, security forces remain vigilant in their efforts to address and counter the threat posed by Naxalites in the region. Authorities are actively working to ensure the safety of both the public and the personnel involved in anti-Naxal operations.
