In a notable achievement for Bharat diplomacy, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the country’s success in cultivating relationships with multiple, and at times, competing powers. Speaking at the 3rd convocation of Rashtriya Raksha University, Jaishankar emphasized the significance of forging reliable partnerships in the face of geopolitical challenges.

He acknowledged the strenuous efforts made in the past decade to address shortcomings in national security, emphasizing the positive impact of overall development since 2014. The minister emphasized that the correction of deficiencies in various domains has contributed to strengthening Bharat’s security, both internally and externally.

Jaishankar shed light on the core components of Bharat’s capabilities, stating that the acquisition and development of weapons and related capabilities have been central to business policies and diplomacy. He emphasized the importance of identifying reliable partners during times of stress in shaping geopolitical calculations.

The External Affairs Minister asserted that the security factor is deeply embedded in Bharat’s strategy and diplomacy when engaging with the competitive global landscape. He highlighted the broad definition of national security and the country’s familiarity with the concept of dual technology, extending to critical and emerging technologies.

Jaishankar pointed out Bharat’s transformation into a “credible and effective development partner,” with a development portfolio spanning 78 nations. He emphasized that Bharat is now recognized as a reliable partner in international development efforts, with projects characterized by being demand-driven, transparent, empowerment-oriented, environmentally friendly, and consultative.

Highlighting Bharat’s role in the global arena, Jaishankar underscored the country’s efforts in promoting digital public infrastructure and sharing best practices in digital governance, particularly with the Global South. Bharat has been actively engaged in spearheading initiatives that contribute to the development and enhancement of digital capabilities on the international stage.

Jaishankar addressed the unprecedented and complex nature of international affairs, emphasizing Bharat’s people-centric foreign policy. He noted that Bharat’s stance reflects the demands and aspirations of its society, presenting the nation as a voice for peace, security, and prosperity on the global stage. While contributing to global stability, Bharat has remained committed to vigorously defending its national interests.

In conclusion, Bharat’s diplomatic achievements underscore its growing influence and role as a reliable partner in global affairs, with a focus on both traditional security concerns and emerging challenges in the digital age.
