On the 99th birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath of Uttar Pradesh paid his respects by laying floral tributes at the revered leader’s statue. Adityanath, in a heartfelt message, emphasized Vajpayee’s role as a purveyor of excellent democratic values in Indian politics. He stated that the memories of Atal Bihari Vajpayee will forever remain alive in the hearts of the people.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath further acknowledged Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s thoughts as the cornerstone of good governance. In a social media post, he paid a humble tribute to the public leader who left an indelible mark on Indian politics. Adityanath expressed that Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s thoughts will continue to inspire and guide the pursuit of good governance in the country.

National Leaders Gather to Pay Homage

Meanwhile, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, visited the ‘Sadaiv Atal’ memorial in New Delhi to offer floral tributes on the occasion. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Former President Ram Nath Kovind, BJP National President JP Nadda, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, and Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh were among those who paid their respects.

The BJP, in honor of Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birth anniversary, organized events nationwide, marking the day as Good Governance Day. Party officials and state presidents were urged to pay floral tributes to Vajpayee’s portrait at all booths and engage in discussions about his remarkable personality and contributions.

Nationwide Celebrations and Discussions

In every district, discussions were held on the schemes and achievements of the Central Government, as well as those of BJP-ruled state governments, with a focus on good governance for the welfare of the poor. The day saw a campaign on the Namo App encouraging people to become “Developed India Brand Ambassadors,” inspiring others to contribute towards the vision of a developed India.

Purpose of Good Governance Day

Good Governance Day aims to enhance public access to various government programs and services, ensuring fair treatment for the country’s residents. The celebration emphasizes the importance of citizens benefiting from government services and programs. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, served as the nation’s prime minister three times, leaving a lasting legacy in Indian politics.
