In an unexpected move, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma of Rajasthan paid a surprise visit to Sawai Man Singh Hospital (SMS) in Jaipur on Monday. The purpose of the visit was to personally assess the healthcare services provided at the hospital.
Upon arrival, the Chief Minister took the opportunity to inquire about the well-being of the patients and carefully inspected the hygiene and medical arrangements across various wards of the hospital. Despite the unannounced visit, he found the overall medical arrangements to be satisfactory.
However, a notable incident occurred during the surprise inspection. The Superintendent of SMS was reportedly missing, raising questions about the administrative oversight. It was only after the Chief Minister reached a specific ward that the Deputy Superintendent was located.
In addition to his assessment of healthcare services, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma also took a moment to pay tribute to the late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. The visit coincided with the 99th birth anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee, a statesman who played a significant role in raising India’s global standing.
Chief Minister Sharma expressed his admiration for Vajpayee, referring to him as the “former and unprecedented Prime Minister” who proudly represented India on the global stage. He further honored Vajpayee’s ideals, policies, and behavior that set a benchmark for the nation.
In a social media post on platform X, the Chief Minister wrote, “Azar…Amar…Atal! On the birth anniversary of revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former and unprecedented Prime Minister of the country, we pay our tribute to him.” He went on to emphasize the commitment of the “double engine government” to the upliftment and welfare of the people of Rajasthan.

Inspired by Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s dedication to continuous service to the nation, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma declared the celebration of Vajpayee’s birth anniversary as ‘Good Governance Day.’ He reiterated the government’s dedication to values, principles, duties, and public service, stating, “Was ‘Atal’, is ‘Atal’, will remain ‘Atal’!”
