Israeli airstrikes killed at least 78 people in Gaza, Palestinian health officials said, which are being called the deadliest since the war began Oct 7. Strikes that began hours before midnight persisted into Christmas Day.
The Israel’s airstrike Targetting the Maghazi in Central Gaza killed more than 70 civilians, said health ministry spokesperson Ashraf Al-Qidra. Israel has said that it was reviewing the intensity of damage in Maghazi. Israel said it was committed to minimizing harm to civilians.
Celebrations of Christmas were cancelled in Bethlehem, the West Bank city where Christian traditions believe that Christ was born 2000 years ago. Christians of Palestine lead a Candle lit vigil in Bethlehem with hymns and prayers for peace in Gaza.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Netanyahu has said that despite fighting being tough, and expensive the troops have to move forward. Speaking in a video message he conveyed that troops would fight deeper into Gaza until total victory is achieved.
In addition, US who’s emerged as the biggest ally of Israel in its war, has asked the latter to dial down in its intensity of attack and reduce civilian deaths.
