The Israel Defense Forces reported on Monday morning that they had successfully targeted and killed Adel Mesmah, the commander of the Najaba company in central Gaza.
Mesmah was responsible for leading the terrorists who attacked Kibbutz Be’eri and Kibbutz Nirim on October 7, resulting in the tragic deaths of 135 Israelis. Despite Israel’s invasion of Gaza, Mesmah continued to lead attacks against Israeli forces.
Israeli forces conducted a raid in the Shejaiya district in northern Gaza, targeting a command and control center used by both Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Additionally, a mosque was found to house numerous weapons. Ground forces directed air strikes on a Hamas squad near Khan Yunis launching rockets and against terrorists who fired a mortar at soldiers, successfully eliminating the threats.
Throughout the night, Israeli naval forces supported ground forces by striking terror infrastructure and other Hamas positions. The offensive is part of Israel’s efforts to counter the attacks on its communities near the Gaza border on October 7, which resulted in the loss of at least 1,200 lives. Currently, 129 people are believed to be held captive by Hamas in Gaza, with ongoing efforts by Israeli authorities to identify bodies and search for human remains.
