In a significant development, Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to lead a high-level security review meeting on Tuesday in the national capital, focusing on the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting is expected to delve into crucial topics such as the security grid, the zero terror plan, and various aspects related to security and development initiatives in the Union Territory.
Scheduled for the afternoon, the meeting will see the Home Minister scrutinizing the area domination plan, the zero terror plan, the law and order situation, and cases related to the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and other security-related issues. The presence of Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, and Director General of Police RR Swain is anticipated.
National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Director Intelligence Bureau Tapan Deka, and the Director Generals of Police of Central Reserve Police Force and the Border Security Force, along with concerned officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs and Jammu and Kashmir, will also attend the meeting.
The meeting holds significance as it aligns with the government’s commitment to strengthening security measures in the region. The Home Minister is expected to review the progress of the security grid and development initiatives, including the New Central Sector Scheme for Industrial Development of Jammu and Kashmir, with an outlay of Rs 28,400 crore, aimed at boosting industrial development.
Providing insight into the economic front, the report mentions that during 2022-23, the industrial sector attracted an investment of Rs 2153.45 crore, and in 2023-24, an investment of Rs. 2326.65 crore has been realized up to November 2023. This underscores the government’s efforts to promote economic growth and development in the Union Territory.
It is noteworthy that this isn’t the first time the Home Minister has taken such initiatives. Similar high-level review meetings were conducted on January 13 and April 13 last year, emphasizing the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism. Amit Shah highlighted the decisive battle against terrorism and expressed the intent to further strengthen the 360-degree security mechanism to eliminate the support and information system of terrorists.
As the meeting unfolds, it is anticipated that strategic discussions and decisions will be made to address the security challenges and propel the developmental agenda in Jammu and Kashmir.
