In a significant development, Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath, Union Minister VK Singh, and other dignitaries virtually flagged off the inaugural tri-weekly flights between Ahmedabad and Ayodhya. The first flight, operated by IndiGo, took off amidst a unique spectacle as passengers arrived dressed as Lord Ram, Lakshman, Sita, and Hanuman, chanting ‘Jai Shree Ram.’
The Ayodhya Airport, inaugurated on December 30th by Prime Minister Modi, marked its latest milestone with the commencement of regular flights. IndiGo’s new service, scheduled for Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, departs from SVPI Airport in Ahmedabad at 9:10 a.m. and lands at Maharishi Valmiki International Airport, Ayodhya Dham (MVIAAD) at 11 a.m. The return flight takes off from Ayodhya at 11:30 am and reaches SVPI Airport around 01:40 pm.
During the launch event, Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath personally received the boarding pass for the inaugural flight, emphasizing the significance of the newly established air connectivity.
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “We initiated the first flight between Ayodhya and Delhi on December 30th, operated by IndiGo and Air India Express. Today, we are connecting Ayodhya with Ahmedabad.” He highlighted the cultural significance, saying, “It is said that where the name of Lord Ram is invoked, all tasks are accomplished.”
Notably, Ahmedabad, known as the ‘Manchester of the East,’ holds additional importance as the Vibrant Gujarat Summit is currently underway, making the launch of this flight route timely and significant.
The introduction of these flights aligns perfectly with the forthcoming inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on January 22nd. Anticipating a surge in traveler numbers, the Ayodhya airport aims to provide pilgrims and tourists with direct access to the historically and culturally significant city. The new air route is expected to play a crucial role in facilitating travel to the temple town, especially during the auspicious occasion of the Ram Mandir inauguration.
