Dubbed as the “Summit of Success” the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit was inaugurated on Wednesday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gandhinagar, which marks the first such summit of this Amrit Kaal. Representatives from more than 100 nations participating in the summit, were labeled as “crucial partners” in Bharat’s development journey by PM Modi.
Launched in 2003 the Vibrant Gujarat Summit was the brainchild of PM Modi, since then the summit has been organized nine times. This year the theme of the summit is “Gateway to the Future”. In the run-up to the seminar, various industry groups signed up memorandum of understanding, proposing investments in Gujarat.
During the inauguration, PM Modi stated that the Central government is working hard towards making Bharat a developed nation in the coming 25 years when the country would be celebrating its 100 years of independence. In the evening, the Vibrant Gujarat Trade Show will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister.
The chief guest of this year’s inaugural summit is United Arab Emirates President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with whom PM Modi inked several MoUs and held an extravagant road show.
High-profile businessmen, Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani were also present at the inaugural session of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and made investment announcements.
Adani Group chairperson, Gautam Adani announced that he would be investing over 2 lakh crores in Gujarat, mainly for building a green energy park that would be visible even from space. He said that the investment would create nearly 1 lakh jobs. Of the ₹55,000 crore committed at the last summit, Adani Group has already spent ₹50,000 crore.
Meanwhile, Reliance company chairman, Mukesh Ambani stated that his firm would be responsible for building Bharat’s first and world-class carbon fiber facility at Hazira, Gujarat. Furthermore, he added that Reliance would also set up a green energy giga complex of 5000 acres in Jamnagar in 2024. Ambani also confirmed Bharat’s bid for the 2036 Olympics, saying that Reliance will assist the authorities in its developmental projects.
While recollecting the moment when Ambani’s father, Dhirubhai Ambani told him that Gujarat is their matrubhoomi and must always remain their karmabhoomi, Reliance chairman reiterated that Reliance was, is, and will always remain a Gujarati company.
Other than the Bharatiya companies, Dutch and Singapore firms also committed to invest $7.19 billion in Bharat. Singapore’s High Commission in Bharat stated in a post on the microblogging platform, X that the country’s delegation would declare an investment of Rs. 270 billion. While, Amlan Bora, the chief Bharat representative of the Netherlands Business Support Office, told the media that the Dutch delegation would invest 3.6 billion euros in Gujarat and other Bharatiya states.
