In a spiritual visit to Nashik, Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in prayers at the Shree Kalaram Mandir on Friday. The temple, located in Panchavati along the banks of the Godavari, holds significance as it is associated with various events from the Ramayana. PM Modi took part in the puja ceremonies and joined the recitation of the ‘Yudh Kanda’ segment of the Ramayana, depicting Lord Ram’s return to Ayodhya. Notably, the narrative was recited in Marathi, while the Prime Minister listened through AI translation in Hindi, showcasing a unique blend of tradition and technology.
During his visit, PM Modi paid floral tribute to Swami Vivekananda on his birth anniversary. Panchavati holds a special place in the Ramayana as Lord Ram, Goddess Sita, and Lakshman spent crucial years in the Dandakaranya forest situated in this region.
The Prime Minister’s visit precedes the grand ‘Pran-Pratishtha’ ceremony of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya scheduled for January 22. Additionally, PM Modi is set to inaugurate and address the 27th National Youth Festival in Nashik. Among the major projects on his agenda is the inauguration of the Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sewri-Nhava Sheva Atal Setu, the country’s longest bridge, and sea bridge, costing about Rs 17,840 crore.
PM Modi will also lay the foundation stone for an underground road tunnel connecting the Eastern Freeway’s Orange Gate. Moreover, he will launch the Namo Mahila Shashaktikaran Abhiyaan, aiming to empower women in Maharashtra through skill development and entrepreneurship exposure.
As part of the visit, the Prime Minister will dedicate the phase 1 of the Surya regional bulk drinking water project, costing over Rs 1,975 crore. This project is expected to benefit around 14 lakh people in the Palghar and Thane districts of Maharashtra by providing a reliable drinking water supply.
PM Modi will dedicate approximately Rs 2000 crore worth of railway projects during the program. This includes the dedication of ‘Phase 2 of Uran-Kharkopar railway line,’ enhancing connectivity to Navi Mumbai. The suburban services running between Nerul/Belapur to Kharkopar will now be extended to Uran. Furthermore, the Prime Minister will flag off the inaugural run of the EMU train from Uran railway station to Kharkopar.
