In a prelude to the highly anticipated Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on a spiritual journey with a visit to the Veerabhadra Temple in Lepakshi, Andhra Pradesh. This temple holds significant importance in the Ramayana, as it is believed to be the site where the wounded bird Jatayu fell after a battle with Ravana. Jatayu, while on the verge of demise, conveyed crucial information to Lord Rama about Goddess Sita being taken south by Ravana, for which he was granted Moksha by Lord Rama.
Prior to this, PM Modi had paid a visit to the Shree Kala Ram Mandir in Nashik and the historic town of Panchvati along the Godavari river. At the Kala Ram Mandir, he offered prayers and listened to verses from the Ramayan in Marathi, focusing on Lord Rama’s arrival in Ayodhya.
Today’s itinerary for Prime Minister Modi includes prayers and darshan at the Veerabhadra Temple around 1:30 PM. Later in the afternoon at 3:30 PM, he is scheduled to reach Palasamudram in the Sri Sathya Sai district. This spiritual tour aligns with his earlier visits to various places of religious significance.
In preparation for the Prime Minister’s visit, security has been intensified in the Sri Sathya Sai district, with officials inspecting areas such as the National Academy of Customs and Narcotics Centre, set to be inaugurated by PM Modi. The heightened security measures underscore the importance and sensitivity of the visit.
This two-day tour extends beyond Andhra Pradesh, as Prime Minister Modi is also set to hold a road show in Kochi, Kerala at 7:15 PM. On the morning of January 17, he will perform pooja and darshan at the Guruvayur Temple in Kerala, concluding his spiritual sojourn.
One of the significant events during this trip includes the inauguration of the new campus of the National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes, and Narcotics at Palasamudram, Sri Sathya Sai district in Andhra Pradesh. The Prime Minister’s engagements underscore the government’s commitment to cultural and religious heritage, emphasizing the importance of these sacred sites in the fabric of India’s history and mythology.
