Late on Wednesday evening, the highly anticipated idol of Ram Lalla arrived at the Ayodhya temple. The idol, crafted from black stone by Mysuru sculptor Arun Yogiraj and weighing approximately 150-200 kg, was carefully lifted from a truck using a crane. The entire arrival was part of a grand procession that included a symbolic halt at the Hanumangarhi temple in Ayodhya.
Following the procession, the idol was delicately placed inside the sanctum sanctorum of the temple, where it is slated to be installed ahead of the ‘Pran Pratistha’ ceremony. Workers overseeing the process looked on as a special puja was conducted in the sanctum sanctorum before the idol’s placement.
According to Nripendra Mishra, the chairperson of the Shri Ram Mandir Construction Committee, the idol is expected to be officially installed in the sanctum sanctorum on Thursday. The event marked the second day of the weeklong rituals leading up to the grand ceremony scheduled for Monday.
Preparations for bringing the idol to the new Ram temple complex had been underway since the previous night. The idol was carefully loaded onto a truck adorned with flowers, and the procession to the temple was accompanied by the use of a crane.
Meanwhile, a separate silver idol of Ram Lalla, distinct from the one to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum, was adorned with roses and marigolds as it toured the premises of the Ram temple. As part of the ongoing rituals leading up to the significant January 22 event, a “Kalash Pujan” ceremony was conducted, adding to the religious fervor surrounding the historic occasion.
