In honor of its 25th anniversary, Central Depository Services (India) Limited (CDSL), Asia’s first listed depository, has unveiled two innovative initiatives aimed at fostering inclusivity and accessibility in the capital market. SEBI Chairperson Madhabi Puri Buch officially launched these initiatives at the silver jubilee function on January 17.
Multi-Lingual CAS for Investor Empowerment
One of the groundbreaking initiatives, ‘Apka CAS – Apki Zubaani,’ involves a revolutionary upgrade to investor Consolidated Account Statements (CAS). This enhancement allows investors to receive statements in their preferred language among 23 diverse Bharat languages. The move is a testament to CDSL’s commitment to easier accessibility, offering investors a consolidated view of their demat account securities in a language of their choice.
Breaking Communication Barriers with ‘CDSL Buddy Sahayta 24*7’ Chatbot
The second initiative introduces a unique multi-lingual chatbot on the CDSL website, known as ‘CDSL Buddy Sahayta 24*7.’ The chatbot, available in four languages initially, aims to simplify investors’ journeys toward self-sufficiency. By providing round-the-clock assistance, the chatbot becomes a constant companion for investors navigating the intricacies of securities markets.
Market Awareness Initiatives in Cybersecurity and Financial Literacy
CDSL’s commitment to market awareness in cybersecurity and financial literacy was also highlighted during the silver jubilee celebrations.
Thought Leadership Report on ‘Reimagine Digital Trust in Capital Markets’: CDSL unveiled a thought leadership report prepared in collaboration with knowledge partners KPMG. The report synthesizes key takeaways from CDSL’s recent Cyber Security Symposium, focusing on understanding digital trust, global financial interconnectedness, and resilience against emerging cyber threats.
Successful Completion of ‘Neev’ Campaign: As part of its anniversary celebrations, CDSL successfully concluded the ‘Neev’ campaign – a Pan-India Financial Literacy Campaign spanning 25 cities. The initiative reached diverse communities, including the armed forces and rural areas, embodying CDSL’s commitment to spreading financial literacy awareness across the breadth and depth of the country.
In his remarks on the silver jubilee event, Shri Nehal Vora, MD & CEO, expressed pride in witnessing the SEBI Chairperson launch these pivotal initiatives. He emphasized inclusivity as a core value, envisioning a united CDSL where the ethos resonates with unified trust. CDSL’s vision encompasses leveraging technology, fortifying secure access, and empowering investors through effective financial education, transcending language barriers. As CDSL journeys from Silver to a Century, inclusive trust remains the driving force behind its endeavors.
