In the vibrant spirit of the upcoming 75th Republic Day celebration, preparations in Bharat are in full swing as the nation eagerly anticipates the presence of French President Emmanuel Macron as the chief guest. The rehearsal at Vijay Chowk featured a 95-member marching contingent and a 33-member band contingent from France, adding an international touch to the grand event.
Among the highlights, the Republic Day parade will witness the participation of the French Air Force’s Rafale fighter jets and multirole tanker transport aircraft, showcasing the strong defense ties between Bharat and France. Squadron Leader Sumita Yadav, who participated in France’s Bastille Day parade alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is also set to take part in the Republic Day parade.
In a historic move, the Border Security Force (BSF) will feature all-women marching and brass band contingents on Kartavya Path during the celebration. Led by an Assistant Commandant rank woman officer and two subordinate officers, a total of 144 women BSF constables will march, symbolizing gender inclusivity and empowerment.
The significance of President Macron’s attendance at the Republic Day celebration is highlighted by the fact that this marks the 6th occasion when a French leader has been invited as the chief guest. Prime Minister Modi extended a warm invitation, expressing eagerness to celebrate the India-France strategic partnership and shared democratic values.
Adding to the diplomatic ties, 2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the Bharat-France Strategic Partnership. The two countries have consistently demonstrated a high degree of convergence on various regional and global issues, collaborating in sectors such as defense, space, civil nuclear, trade, investment, education, culture, and people-to-people ties.
The deepening relationship between Bharat and France is further emphasized by the recent interactions between leaders. Prime Minister Modi was the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day Parade in Paris in 2023, reciprocating President Macron’s invitation. The leaders also engaged in a bilateral meeting during the G20 Summit in Bharat, reaffirming their commitment to elevate the relations between the two nations.
As the 75th Republic Day approaches, the stage is set for a celebration that not only marks a significant milestone for Bharat but also strengthens the bond between the two democratic nations, reflecting their enduring friendship and cooperation across multiple fronts.
