Ayodhya is all set to create history with the highly anticipated ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of Shri Ram Lalla scheduled for Monday, January 22. The ceremonial journey leading up to this grand event included a seven-day ritual, adhering to classical traditions.
On January 16, the atonement ceremony began with a ‘purifying bath’ in the river Sarayu by Anil Mishra, a trustee of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra. The rituals involved worship of Lord Vishnu, Panchgavya and ghee offerings, ‘Karmakuti Homa,’ and recitation of Valmiki Ramayana and Bhusundiramayana.
Day 2 featured a ‘Jalayatra,’ a procession carrying the idol of Ram Lalla via the river Sarayu to the Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Subsequent days included Ganeshambika puja, Varun puja, Chaturvedokta Punyahvachan, Vastu puja, and Nandishraddha.
The final day of the elaborate process will witness Havan, daily worship, divine bathing of the idol with sacred water from 114 Kalash, and eventually, the grand Pran Pratishtha, starting around 12.30 pm and ending at 1 pm in the ‘Mrigashira Nakshatra.’
The intricate ceremony involves 121 Acharyas, with Ganeshwar Shastri Dravid as the chief coordinator and Laxmikant Dixit of Kashi as the Chief Acharya. Dignitaries, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mohan Bhagwat, Anandiben Patel, and Yogi Adityanath, will be present, along with the participation of over 150 traditions and 50 tribal communities.
This historic event transcends religious boundaries, bringing together followers of various traditions such as Shaiva, Vaishnav, Shakta, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and more. The Shri Ram Janmbhoomi Teerth Kshetra mentioned that it represents a true amalgamation of diverse cultural and spiritual practices.
Following the Pran Pratistha program, dignitaries will be granted darshan, spreading enthusiasm not only in Ayodhya but across the country. The ceremony has garnered attention with contributions of gifts from different states, symbolizing a connection across borders.
The idol of Shri Ram Lalla, carved by renowned sculptor Arun Yogiraj, was placed inside the sanctum sanctorum on January 19.
As the nation eagerly awaits the grand ‘Pran Pratishtha’ of Ram Lalla in Ayodhya, today marks the sixth day of the ceremony. The highlight was the divine bathing of the Ram Lalla idol with water from 114 Kalash, each holding special liquids. The day began with the daily puja of the deities, an essential part of the ongoing auspicious Pran Pratishtha rituals.
Despite viral images on social media, the chief priest, Acharya Satyendra Das, clarified that the eyes of the idol would not be revealed until the completion of the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, in accordance with their beliefs and scriptures.
