FacebookTwitterWhatsAppTelegram

In a spirited celebration of national pride and remembrance, Bharat observes Parakram Diwas on January 23 every year. This day is dedicated to commemorating the birth anniversary of the iconic freedom fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. The term “Parakram Diwas” translates to the “Day of Valor” or “Day of Courage,” reflecting the significance of Netaji’s relentless pursuit of Bharat’s  freedom.

The decision to officially designate January 23rd as Parakram Diwas was made by the government of Bharat in 2021, marking the 124th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. This annual observance pays tribute to the life and legacy of a leader who played a crucial role in Bharat’s fight for independence.

Life and Legacy of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose

Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Odisha, was a prominent freedom fighter known for his unwavering dedication to Bharat’s independence. Despite facing expulsion from college in 1916 due to nationalist activities, Bose’s determination remained steadfast. After excelling in the Indian Civil Service examination in England, he returned to Bharat in 1921, driven by a deep passion for the country’s freedom.

Bose aligned himself with the Indian National Congress, rising through the ranks to become the president of the All India Youth Congress in 1923. His charismatic leadership led to the presidency of the Indian National Congress in 1938 and 1939, where he tirelessly worked to strengthen the party and garner support for the freedom struggle. In 1939, he founded the Forward Bloc within the Congress to unite anti-colonial forces. Amid World War II, Bose played a pivotal role in Bharat’s fight for independence by forming the Indian National Army in 1942, engaging in battles against British forces.

Significance of Parakram Diwas

Parakram Diwas holds immense significance in honoring the courage and determination of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. It serves as a reminder of his unwavering spirit and selfless service to the nation. This observance aims to inspire Bharatiyas, especially the youth, to emulate his bravery, perseverance, and patriotic fervor in the face of adversity.

Netaji’s leadership of the Indian National Army and the establishment of the Azad Hind Government exemplify his commitment to the cause of freedom. Parakram Diwas encourages individuals to embrace these values and work towards building a stronger, united, and independent Bharat. The day stands as a testament to Netaji’s enduring legacy and the indomitable spirit that continues to inspire generations.
