In a recent development, the Supreme Court of Bharat has taken note of a plea filed against the Tamil Nadu government’s alleged oral order banning the live telecast of the “Pran Prathishta” of Lord Ram in temples across the state. The court has issued notices to the Tamil Nadu government and other concerned parties regarding this matter.
The Tamil Nadu government has refuted the claims made in the plea, asserting that there are no restrictions on the live telecast, poojas, archanas, annadhanasm, and bhajans associated with the “Pran Prathishta.” According to the government, the plea seems to be politically motivated, and they emphasized that there is no ban on the mentioned activities.
Responding to the government’s stance, the Supreme Court emphasized that permission for such events cannot be denied solely based on the presence of other communities in the locality. The court emphasized the need for a harmonious society and urged the state government not to prevent events on the grounds of the coexistence of diverse communities.
This legal development comes in the wake of accusations by Finance Minister Sitharaman, who accused the MK Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government of anti-Hindu actions and alleged a ban on events related to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration. The Finance Minister claimed that the government was prohibiting activities in the name of Shri Ram in various temples.
The Tamil Nadu government denied these allegations, labeling them as false news with ulterior motives. The administration asserted that there is no ban on the events related to the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration and refuted claims of hindrance to privately held temple events.
Meanwhile, the ‘Pran Pratistha’ of Ram Lalla was scheduled to take place, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other dignitaries in attendance. Security measures were heightened in Ayodhya, with Rapid Action Force personnel deployed strategically, patrols conducted on the Sarayu River, and anti-bomb squad and dog squad teams stationed at Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport.
As the controversy unfolds, the Supreme Court’s intervention raises questions about the alleged ban and emphasizes the importance of religious harmony in a diverse society. The developments around the Ayodhya Ram Mandir consecration continue to be closely monitored amidst heightened security measures in Ayodhya.
