In a surprising turn of events, the case involving Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Mahua Moitra has taken a new twist. Jai Anant Dehadrai, Moitra’s former partner and the initial complainant leading to her expulsion from Parliament, has submitted a detailed 100-page affidavit containing explosive allegations about their past interactions.
The affidavit, obtained by News18, outlines Dehadrai’s claims that Moitra accepted cash and lavish gifts as bribes in exchange for sharing her MP login ID. These alleged transactions were purportedly carried out to benefit Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani. Shockingly, the affidavit also includes plans of Moitra’s former government accommodation, which Dehadrai asserts was renovated using funds provided by Hiranandani.
Furthermore, the affidavit delves into sensitive matters, revealing details about confidential papers related to the Adani Group. Dehadrai alleges that Moitra facilitated Hiranandani’s access to senior officials and politicians in West Bengal, potentially leveraging them for his benefit.
In response to these serious accusations, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has questioned Dehadrai for over five hours, seeking insights into Moitra’s other connections. The CBI’s probe, stemming from a Lokpal-referred corruption complaint, aims to unravel the intricate web surrounding Moitra’s alleged wrongdoings.
As the developments unfold, Moitra is yet to officially respond. Sources close to her claim that the CBI has emailed a set of questions, and Moitra plans to provide answers in due course. Additionally, these sources dispute the allegations, asserting that the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) found no evidence of lavish renovations in her former residence.
Dehadrai’s counsel, Pulkit Agarwal, emphasized that while the affidavit has been submitted, they refrain from commenting as the matter is currently sub-judice. The unfolding revelations are bound to fuel further scrutiny into Moitra’s actions and raise questions about the potential repercussions for the TMC leader.
