After concluding his successful visit to Bharat, French President Emmanuel Macron engaged in discussions with PM Narendra Modi to strengthen the bilateral relations between both the nations. The leaders discussed key developments including the private helicopter deal between Airbus and TATA. Amongst the top concerns pertaining to both nations, the leaders also discussed counter-terrorism while having serious talks on the ongoing Middle East crisis and Red Sea conflict.
According to Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra, the supremes of both countries finalized many pivotal agreements, including a Memorandum of Understand (MOU) for an industrial partnership between TATA and Airbus for the production of H125 private helicopters. While taking major decisions towards the defense industrial roadmap, that will ease the joint development and manufacturing of advanced military equipment, both countries have signed another Memorandum of Understanding for defense space cooperation thus further strengthening the ties.

On the other hand, both supremes have appreciated the joint working group on counter-terroism. Both have welcomed a formalisaion of cooperation between the NSG and GIGN of France for agency-level cooperation in order to counter terrorism. Critising the brutal act committed by Hamas on 7th Oct, PM Modi and President Macron expressed solidarity with the people of Israel.
Bharat and France also agreed to intensify cooperation in the Southwest Indian Ocean. Mentioning the Comprehensive Roadmap for the Indo-Pacific which was finalised in July 2023, both nations expressed satisfaction at the expanding nature of their engagement in the region.
President Macron shed light on Bharat’s plans to organize the Olympic games. Apart from industrial development, President Macron said that he would be delighted to build stronger cooperation in sports, while endorsing Bharat’s plans to organize the Olympic Games on Bharat’s soil.
A day before Republic Day, PM Modi and President Macron held a roadshow in Jaipur to interact with the locals, during which they visited the famous Hawa Mahal and Amer Fort. Apart from that, President Macron also visited Jaipur’s famous Sahu tea stall and for the first time experienced the working of Bharat’s UPI transaction system which is leading cashless transactions throughout the country.
Meanwhile, France also reiterated its firm support for Bharat’s permanent membership in the United Nations Security Council and stressed the urgent need for much-needed reforms in the World Organization.
