Renowned filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra has been honored with the prestigious Best Director award at the 69th Filmfare Awards for his compelling biopic drama titled ’12th Fail.’ The award ceremony took place in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where Chopra’s exceptional directorial skills were spotlighted. ’12th Fail’ explores the lives of UPSC aspirants, depicting their real-life experiences and highlighting the relentless struggles faced by millions of students preparing for the UPSC entrance exam.

Chopra emerged victorious in a competitive field, surpassing fellow directors Amit Rai (OMG 2), Atlee (Jawan), Karan Johar (Rocky aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani), Sandeep Reddy Vanga (Animal), and Siddharth Anand (Pathaan).

The film’s lead actor, Vikrant Massey, received widespread acclaim for his pivotal role in ’12th Fail.’ The movie not only secured the Best Director award but also clinched the highly coveted Best Actor (Critics) and Best Film honors at the Filmfare Awards ceremony.

Speaking about his experience working on the film, Massey shared with ANI, “The movie is a very typical Vidhu Vinod Chopra movie, which is based on hard reality and is a very hard-hitting film. The role was very challenging. I had to lose weight and darken my skin.”

’12th Fail’ was released in theaters on October 27 and received praise from industry peers and celebrities, including Kamal Haasan, Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Vicky Kaushal, Rishabh Shetty, Sanjay Dutt, Farhan Akhtar, and Anil Kapoor.

The triumph of ’12th Fail’ at the 69th Filmfare Awards not only recognizes Chopra’s directorial brilliance but also serves as a testament to the film’s impactful storytelling, resonating with both audiences and industry luminaries.
