The situation took an allarming turn as this was the third such incident within a span of a week. Previously, An university student named Neel Acharya and another student Vivek Saini were killed in two separate incidents.
A computer science and data science student at Purdue University Neel Acharya, was confirmed dead by the university authorities a day after his parent, Goury Acharya, sought information about his whereabouts on social media. The cause of Neel Acharya’s death has not been disclosed, but the university stated that an individual matching his description was found dead near Maurice J Zucrow Laboratories on the campus.
Additionally, the Indian Consulate in Atlanta strongly condemned the brutal murder of Vivek Saini in Georgia. Saini, who was assisting a homeless person named Julian Faulkner by providing him with food, water, and clothes, was tragically killed by Faulkner using a hammer. The Consulate expressed deep anguish over the terrifying and heinous incident, calling for a comprehensive investigation.
These incidents underscore the need for a thorough examination of safety measures and support systems for international students, urging a collaborative effort between authorities, educational institutions, and the community to ensure the well-being of students studying abroad.
