In the latest tear gas fired, farmers were injured at the Punjab-Haryana border. There’s a change in the meeting time as “The meeting with Centre will be held at 5pm tomorrow,” says Punjab Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee General Secretary Sarwan Singh Pandher at Rajpura bypass in Punjab.

Earlier, farmer bodies have been called for a meeting with central ministers through video conferencing at 6 pm on Wednesday. Farmers have to sit at Haryana Raj Bhawan for the meeting. Protesting farmers of several unions on Wednesday started marching towards the capital Delhi.

The Delhi Police posted at the borders are guarding the borders and ensuring the maintenance of law and order amid the farmers’ ‘Delhi chalo’ call.

Deployment of police and paramilitary personnel besides multi-layered barricading is in place to seal the national capital borders at Singhu, Tikri and Ghazipur.

Central Delhi has been put under a heavy security cover with personnel in anti-riot gear deployed and metal and barricades regulating access to several key roads.

On Tuesday the Delhi Metro regulated passengers’ entry and exit at nine stations by closing some gates for many hours in view of the farmers’ march towards the national capital.

Police deployed tear gas to halt thousands of farmers demanding minimum crop prices towards the capital New Delhi due to unsuccessful negotiations with the government.

Thick clouds of tear gas were dispersed to scatter protesters at the Shambhu border near Ambala, situated approximately 200 kilometers north of the capital. Additionally, police employed drones to drop tear gas canisters from the air.

lSection 144 is imposed in 15 districts of Haryana, 64 companies of paramilitary force and 50 companies of the state police are deployed.
