The National Investigation Agency (NIA) made a significant breakthrough on Thursday by arresting Mohammed Zoheb Khan in connection with the ISIS Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar module case. This case involves a conspiracy to target vital installations. The NIA conducted raids at nine locations in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, leading to Khan’s arrest.
Seizure of Electronic Gadgets and Incriminating Documents
The raids resulted in the seizure of several electronic gadgets and incriminating documents related to the case. Mohammed Zoheb Khan is identified as a key suspect in the case. The NIA Mumbai registered the case based on intelligence that Khan and his associates had pledged allegiance to the ISIS Khalifa and planned attacks on various establishments.
Involvement in Radicalization and Recruitment
The accused and his associates were not only planning attacks but were also actively involved in radicalizing and recruiting vulnerable youth. Their recruitment efforts spanned both physical interactions and social media platforms. The NIA highlighted their role in promoting the violent ideology of ISIS.
International Connections and Communication with Handlers
NIA investigations revealed that the accused and other suspects maintained constant contact with foreign-based handlers. These connections aimed at furthering the activities of the global terror network, both within Bharat and abroad. The suspects were sharing incriminating videos of ‘Bayath’ and materials related to violent jihad and Hijrah to Syria.

The anti-terror agency emphasized its commitment to continuing investigations into the case. The goal is to unravel the extent of the network and thwart any potential threats posed by the individuals involved in the conspiracy.
