Owing to West Bengal’s fascist, dictatorial governance and its mute chief minister, the women of Sandeshkhali continue to face abuse, continue to get exploited. Forced to speak up Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has chosen to turn a blind eye. In the latest, the TMC supremo addressing the State Assembly, gave a clean chit to her aide Shah Jahan Seikh and then pinned the blame on BJP and RSS for the ongoing unrest in the region.
Showing her sheer apathy towards the women victims who displayed bravery by coming in front of the camera and spoke about the atrocities bore by them, Mamata Banerjee said that they are BJP workers and that she will get them arrested.
Taking Shah Jahan and his supporter’s side whom the local women have accused of land grabbing and sexually assaulting them under co-ersion, Mamata added that there are no records of rape with the West Bengal police.
The minister called it a sinister design and that the state government has taken all the necessary steps to control the situation.
Notably, since the Sandeshkhali incident occurred the state BJP has been vocally questioning the lack of law and order under the state government, and also as to why Mamata Banerjee has given no explanation to the victims of the assault. BJP has also raised the issue of law enforcements’ ignorance towards the plight of the women in the region.
