As winter begins to retreat from the national capital, New Delhi, the chilly embrace of winter remains strong in the northern region of Jammu and Kashmir. On a crisp Friday morning, tourists were spotted cruising along the serene Dal Lake in Srinagar, nestled amidst the snow-clad mountains.
Among these tourists was Akshay, hailing from Hyderabad, who couldn’t contain his excitement as he shared his recent pilgrimage to the revered Mata Vaishno Devi shrine. Despite the bone-chilling cold, Akshay expressed his gratitude for being able to witness the deity during his uphill journey to the cave temple.
Comparing the icy temperatures of Jammu and Kashmir to the milder climate of Hyderabad, Akshay admitted to feeling the cold gnawing at his bones, although he found solace in the enchanting Shikara ride on Dal Lake. He praised the safety and hospitality of Kashmir, labeling his experience as fascinating and enchanting.
Echoing similar sentiments, Smitha, another tourist from Hyderabad, reveled in the biting chill of Kashmir, albeit expressing a desire for snowfall to enhance the experience. She particularly emphasized the beauty of cruising on Dal Lake, recommending it as a must-do for visitors to Kashmir.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued forecasts predicting heavy rain and snowfall over Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, slated for February 18th, 19th, and 20th. Additionally, isolated hailstorms are anticipated over the region on February 18th, 2024.
As tourists continue to flock to Jammu and Kashmir to experience its unique blend of natural beauty and spiritual serenity, the region braces itself for the upcoming spell of precipitation, adding another layer of magic to its winter allure.
