In a distressing incident in Telangana’s Mahabubnagar area, more than 20 stray dogs were discovered dead in Ponnakal village, Addakal Mandal, late on Friday night. The local community was shocked by the gruesome discovery and swiftly alerted the authorities.

Upon learning of the incident, a group of concerned animal activists promptly approached the police and lodged a formal complaint. They alleged that unidentified individuals, wearing masks, had arrived in a car during the late hours and callously opened fire on the unsuspecting strays.

Adulapuram Goutham, one of the animal activists, expressed deep concern, stating, “According to locals, a few masked men arrived in a car after midnight and opened fire on the dogs.” The activists emphasized the severity of the situation, highlighting that approximately 20 stray dogs had been fatally shot, while several others sustained injuries in the appalling attack.

“We have complained with the police officials regarding this incident,” affirmed Goutham, emphasizing the urgency of addressing the issue and bringing the perpetrators to justice. The activists stressed the importance of safeguarding the welfare of animals and ensuring their protection from such acts of cruelty.

Responding to the outcry from the community and the formal complaint filed by the animal activists, the Telangana Police assured the public that a thorough investigation had been initiated into the matter. Authorities acknowledged the gravity of the situation and affirmed their commitment to uncovering the truth behind the heinous act.

“We have received a complaint and have launched a probe into the incident,” stated police officials, underscoring their dedication to upholding law and order and ensuring the safety and security of both humans and animals within the community. The police pledged to work diligently to identify and apprehend those responsible for the senseless and barbaric act.

As the investigation unfolds, residents of Ponnakal village and neighboring areas remain deeply troubled by the tragic fate suffered by the innocent stray dogs. Calls for justice echo throughout the community as individuals rally together to demand accountability and advocate for the protection of vulnerable animals against such acts of violence and cruelty.
