Actor Vikrant Massey finds himself at the center of controversy as an old tweet resurfaces on social media. The 2018 tweet, linked to the gangrape and murder of an eight-year-old girl in Jammu and Kashmir, featured a cartoon with Lord Ram and Goddess Sita, sparking fresh outrage. In response, Massey apologized, stating, “It was never my intention to hurt… I’d like to apologize to each and everyone who has been hurt.”
In context to one of my Tweets way back in 2018, I’d like to say a few words:
It was never my intention to hurt, malign or disrespect the Hindu community.
But as I reflect in hindsight about a Tweet made in jest, I also release the distasteful nature of it. The same could…

The controversial tweet included an editorial cartoon where Goddess Sita tells Lord Ram, “I’m so glad I was kidnapped by Ravan and not by your bhakts!” Massey had originally posted it with the caption, “Half-baked potatoes and half-baked nationalists will only cause a pain in the gut. #KathuaCase #Unnao #Shame.” The tweet, which resurfaced on Tuesday, has since been deleted.
The incident comes shortly after Massey shared in an interview about his inclusive upbringing in a household where family members follow various religions. Discussing his brother’s conversion to Islam, Massey stated, “From a young age, I have seen a lot of arguments related to religion and spirituality.”
On the professional front, Vikrant Massey’s latest appearance was in the highly successful 12th Fail, released in 2023, which achieved both commercial and critical acclaim.
