Prime Minister Narendra Modi has unveiled Sudarshan Setu, the longest cable-stayed bridge in Bharat, stretching over 2.32 kilometers. The bridge links the Okha mainland to Beyt Dwarka in Gujarat, offering a vital connection between the two regions. Formerly known as the ‘Signature Bridge,’ it has been renamed Sudarshan Setu, symbolizing its significance and impact on the area’s infrastructure.

Beyt Dwarka, situated near the Okha port and approximately 30 kilometers from Dwarka town, is home to the famous Dwarkadhish temple dedicated to Lord Krishna. The inauguration of Sudarshan Setu marks a milestone in Gujarat’s developmental journey, as highlighted by Prime Minister Modi during the ceremony. Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel was also present alongside PM Modi during the inauguration, underscoring the collaborative effort behind this infrastructure marvel.

The Sudarshan Setu holds immense importance for both residents and pilgrims, particularly those visiting the revered Dwarkadhish Temple. Previously, pilgrims had to rely on boat transport to reach the temple in Beyt Dwarka. With the bridge’s completion, accessibility has been significantly enhanced, easing the commute for devotees and residents alike.

This ambitious project, initiated by the Centre in 2017, aims to streamline connectivity and facilitate smoother travel between Okha and Beyt Dwarka. The bridge, spanning 2.5 kilometers, was constructed at a cost of Rs 978 crore, demonstrating the government’s commitment to bolstering infrastructure and improving public amenities.

The Sudarshan Setu stands out not only for its functional significance but also for its innovative design elements. Adorned with verses from the Bhagavad Gita and images of Lord Krishna, the bridge’s footpath reflects the cultural ethos of the region. Additionally, solar panels installed on the footpath’s upper sections contribute to sustainable energy generation, further enhancing the bridge’s utility.

Prime Minister Modi commenced his two-day visit to Gujarat with a grand roadshow in Jamnagar, where enthusiastic crowds cheered him on. The chants of ‘Modi, Modi’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ resonated as PM Modi’s cavalcade made its way towards the Circuit House, underscoring the public’s fervent support for the government’s initiatives and developmental endeavors.

In conclusion, the inauguration of Sudarshan Setu represents a significant step towards enhancing connectivity, promoting tourism, and fostering economic development in Gujarat. With its completion, the bridge not only fulfills infrastructural needs but also symbolizes the spirit of progress and innovation driving India’s growth trajectory.
