Battle of Palkhed | National Science Day | Rajendra Prasad’s death anniversary
The Battle of Paalkhed took place on February 28, 1728, between Peshwa Balaji Rao I and Nizam Asaf Jah near Nashik. Despite being outnumbered, Balajirao Peshwa achieved a decisive victory, showcasing his strategic brilliance. Bajirao, appointed as Peshwa at the young age of 20, never faced defeat in subsequent wars. In the Battle of Palkhed, his astuteness compelled the Nizam to sign the Treaty of Shevgaon on March 6, 1728. This treaty restored Maratha's control over territories and secured significant concessions from the Nizam, marking another triumph for Balajirao Peshwa.
