In a significant breakthrough for Bharatiya law enforcement, Mohammad Ghouse Nayazi, a fugitive accused of orchestrating the 2016 murder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Rudresh R in Bengaluru, has been arrested and brought back to Bharat from South Africa. Nayazi, a known operative of the banned extremist organization Popular Front of India (PFI), had been on the run, managing to evade authorities and find refuge in various foreign locations.
Rudresh R, a 35-year-old prominent figure in the RSS and secretary of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Shivajinagar, was brutally killed in Bangalore. The incident had sparked widespread outrage, prompting law enforcement to intensify efforts to apprehend Nayazi, who had a reward of Rs five lakh on his head for anyone providing information leading to his arrest.
The Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) played a pivotal role in tracking Nayazi’s location, which triggered immediate action from central agencies. Subsequently, a team from the National Investigative Agency (NIA) successfully arrested Nayazi and facilitated his extradition to Bharat.
The arrest is being hailed as a crucial development, and authorities are optimistic that Nayazi’s interrogation could provide valuable insights into the workings of the PFI module in Karnataka and other parts of the country. Nayazi’s connections and involvement may unravel crucial information about the individuals behind the extremist activities, thereby aiding in dismantling the PFI network.
This successful extradition follows a pattern of heightened efforts by law enforcement to bring perpetrators of politically motivated crimes to justice. In a similar vein, the NIA had arrested another PFI member last year in connection with the murder of RSS leader SK Srinivasan in Kerala. These actions underscore the commitment of Bharatiya authorities to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety of citizens.
With Nayazi back on Bharatiya soil, the focus now shifts to the interrogation process, where authorities anticipate extracting essential information that could lead to further dismantling of extremist networks within the country.
