Prime Minister Narendra Modi contributed Rs 2,000 on Sunday as a party fund to make stronger the BJP and to build a Viksit Bharat ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Taking to social media platform X, the Prime Minister also requested everyone to donate to the party’s fundraiser.
“I am happy to contribute to @BJP4India and strengthen our efforts to build a Viksit Bharat. I also urge everyone to be a part of #DonationForNationBuilding through the NaMoApp,” Modi wrote, sharing a screenshot of the receipt of his contribution.
On March 1, BJP party President JP Nadda contributed Rs 1,000 to the party fund and highlighted his support for PM Modi’s visions for making Bharat a ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The BJP had declared donations of nearly Rs 720 crore in 2022-23.
However, Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud said that the Supreme Court holds that anonymous electoral bonds are violative of the Right To Information and Article 19 (1) (a).
The court said that information about corporate contributors through Electoral Bonds must be disclosed as the donations by companies are purely for quid pro quo purposes.
