Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy expressed his admiration for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, referring to him as his “big brother.” At a public rally in Adilabad, Reddy emphasized the importance of following the Gujarat model for Telangana’s progress, urging for the PM’s assistance in the state’s development efforts. Reddy highlighted that for Telangana to flourish, it must focus on uplifting the marginalized sections, including Dalits, tribal communities, and backward classes.
Speaking in Hindi at the rally, Reddy underscored the significance of Prime Minister Modi’s support in advancing the states’ agendas. He reiterated that cooperation between the central and state governments is essential for Telangana to achieve growth similar to Gujarat. Reddy emphasized that the state, governed by the Congress party, aims for harmonious relations with the Centre, stressing its willingness to contribute to Bharat’s ambitious goal of achieving a USD 5 trillion economy.
During his address, CM Revanth Reddy also appealed for financial assistance for Telangana’s metro rail project, stressing the importance of infrastructure development for the state’s progress. Prime Minister Modi, who was on a tour of Telangana ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, laid the foundation stone for over 30 development projects worth more than ₹56,000 crore in Adilabad.
Among the projects inaugurated by the Prime Minister was NTPC’s 800 MW (Unit-2) Telangana Super Thermal Power Project in Peddapalli. This project, based on ultra-supercritical technology, is poised to supply 85% of the state’s power needs and boasts the highest power generation efficiency of approximately 42% among all NTPC power stations. The inauguration marks a significant milestone in Telangana’s quest for energy self-sufficiency and sustainable development.
Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Telangana underscores the importance of the state in Bharat’s developmental landscape. The dedication of key infrastructure projects reflects the government’s commitment to fostering growth and prosperity in the region. Following his engagements in Telangana, PM Modi is set to participate in another public meeting in Tamil Nadu later in the day, further reinforcing the government’s focus on nationwide development initiatives.
