In an exciting development for the aviation industry, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has granted the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to the newly established airline, Fly91. The venture, founded by former senior executive of Kingfisher Airlines, Manoj Chako, under the company name ‘Just Udo Aviation Pvt Ltd’, received approval from the civil aviation ministry to launch the airline last year under the brand name FLY91.
On March 2, Fly91 made its inaugural flight from Manohar International Airport in Mopa, Goa, to Bengaluru. The airline has selected ‘IC’ as its code, a nostalgic nod to Indian Airlines, which operated from 1953 until 2011 when it merged with Air India.
The Air Operator’s Certificate is a crucial authorization required for operators to conduct specified commercial air transport operations, marking a significant milestone for Fly91’s journey into the aviation sector.
Maiden Flight Success for Fly91
Last week, Fly91, based in Goa, operated its maiden flight using an ATR 72-600 aircraft from Mopa airport. The occasion was commemorated with a water cannon salute, symbolizing a traditional aviation tradition to mark significant milestones.
Having successfully completed test flights and proving flights to secure the AOC, Fly91 is gearing up to commence operations, targeting Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns across India. This move aligns with the airline’s strategy to expand its reach and cater to regional air travel needs.
Focus on Regional Connectivity
Fly91 has been allocated its initial set of routes under the government’s regional air connectivity scheme UDAN. According to the DGCA statement, the airline will connect various destinations including Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nanded in Maharashtra, and Agatti in Lakshadweep as part of its UDAN routes.
With its commitment to enhancing regional connectivity and serving underserved areas, Fly91 aims to play a significant role in bolstering air travel accessibility within Bharat. The airline’s entry into the market brings fresh opportunities for travelers, especially those residing in smaller towns and remote locations, to access efficient air transportation services.
As Fly91 prepares to embark on its journey, passengers can anticipate enhanced connectivity, convenience, and accessibility to a wider range of destinations, marking a positive stride in Bharat’s aviation landscape.
