In what marks the Houthi militants’ first fatal assault on commercial ships in the Gulf of Aden, the Iranian-backed terrorists killed three crew members after it launched a missile strike on a vessel on Wednesday. The fatal attack forced the survivors to jump off the vessel, into the sea, the US military stated. Responding swiftly, Indian Navy’s INS Kolkata initiated a rescue operation to safeguard the ship, rescuing 21 crew members, including 1 Indian national. Pertinently, the Houthi militants, controlling Yemen, have been targeting commercial ships in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden since the beginning of the Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip in a show of support to Hamas terrorists. The targeting has forced the ships to entirely abandon the maritime route, and opt for a longer route through the Cape of Good Hope.
