Prime Minister Narendra Modi has intensified his campaign against the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, urging the people to oust the party from power in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. He accused the Trinamool of corruption and claimed that the party’s ministers were involved in stealing from the ration system. Modi alleged that the Trinamool had created fake job cards to embezzle funds meant for the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA).
Addressing a gathering, PM Modi criticized the opposition parties, including the Trinamool, Congress, and the Left, accusing them of neglecting the welfare of the people of North Bengal. He claimed that these parties had not only failed to develop the region but also fueled social conflicts. Modi highlighted the Sandeshkhali issue, where a Trinamool leader, Sheikh Shahjahan, was accused of assaulting women and grabbing their lands. Shahjahan was arrested after being on the run for over 55 days, and the CBI has now taken custody of him.
During his visit to Siliguri, PM Modi outlined a three-pronged approach for the development of North Bengal, focusing on tea, tourism, and timber industries. He promised to provide support and facilities to small businesses in these sectors. Modi emphasized the importance of empowering local communities and boosting economic opportunities in the region.
Responding to PM Modi’s allegations, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee led a rally of women from Sandeshkhali and asserted that West Bengal is the safest state for women. Banerjee countered Modi’s charges, defending her party’s record on women’s safety and development initiatives.
PM Modi’s call to oust the Trinamool Congress and his promises for the development of North Bengal have set the stage for a fierce electoral battle in the state. As the Lok Sabha elections draw closer, political tensions are escalating, with both the ruling Trinamool and the opposition BJP gearing up for a showdown in one of Bharat’s most politically significant regions.
