On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for 15 airport projects, including 12 new terminal buildings, during his visit to Azamgarh, Uttar Pradesh.
“Azamgarh’s star is shining today. There was a time when an event was held in Delhi and (people from) other states used to attend it. Today, the event is being organised in Azamgarh and people from different parts of the country are attending it,” said PM Modi.
The prime minister inaugurated airport projects nationwide, totaling over ₹9,800 crore. ‘Don’t see these developmental projects from electoral spectacles’, said Modi.
He also added that he is running development fast to make Bharat a developed Bharat by 2047. A government statement said, ‘The 12 new terminals will collectively handle 620 lakh passengers annually, and the three new ones, once completed, will increase the combined passenger capacity to 95 lakh per year’.
These terminals feature advanced passenger amenities and sustainable elements like insulated roofing systems, energy-saving canopies, and LED lighting.
He will arrive in Varanasi later around 2:15 pm to distribute the inaugural instalment under the Mahatari Vandana Yojana in Chhattisgarh via video conferencing.
