In a major development for India’s infrastructure, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate and lay the foundation stones for 112 national highway projects across the country, totaling a staggering Rs.1 lakh crore. The event, taking place in Gurugram today, will mark a significant milestone in enhancing the nation’s transportation network.
One of the key highlights is the inauguration of the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, covering a 19-km stretch at a cost of Rs 4,100 crore. This eight-lane expressway aims to alleviate traffic congestion between Delhi and Gurugram on National Highway-48. The project includes crucial components like the Delhi-Haryana Border to Basai Rail-over-Bridge (ROB) and Basai ROB to Kherki Daula sections, offering improved connectivity to the IGI Airport in Delhi and Gurugram Bypass.
Several other major projects will also be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, including the 9.6-km-long six-lane Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II) in Delhi, three packages of Lucknow Ring Road in Uttar Pradesh, and the Anandapuram-Pendurthi-Anakapalli section of NH-16 in Andhra Pradesh.
Additionally, PM Modi will lay the foundation stones for various national highway projects across the country. Notable among these are the Bengaluru-Kadappa-Vijayawada Expressway in Andhra Pradesh, Belgaum-Hungund-Raichur Section of NH-748A in Karnataka, Shamli-Ambala Highway in Haryana, and Amritsar-Bathinda corridor in Punjab. These projects, amounting to ₹20,500 crore, are expected to significantly contribute to the growth of the national highway network, boost socio-economic development, generate job opportunities, and stimulate trade and commerce across different regions in the country.
