In an interaction at the India Today Conclave, Union Home Minister Amit Shah reiterated his full respect for the Supreme Court’s decision on electoral bonds while advocating for their improvement rather than complete elimination. Shah emphasized that the scheme was introduced to eradicate the influence of black money in Indian politics and expressed his belief in the need for refinement instead of scrapping it entirely.
Shah criticized the opposition Congress party, highlighting its historical reliance on cash donations, with a significant portion allegedly ending up in the personal pockets of its leaders. He defended the BJP’s record on electoral bonds, clarifying that despite receiving approximately ₹6,000 crore out of ₹20,000 crore issued, other political entities also benefited significantly from the scheme.
Addressing the concept of ‘one nation, one election,’ Shah echoed the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, emphasizing its potential to expedite development and reduce recurrent election-related expenditures. He lamented the adverse impact of frequent polls and the Model Code of Conduct on governmental decision-making and developmental activities.
Regarding seat-sharing discussions in Bihar, Shah assured that all arrangements would be finalized in the upcoming week, expressing confidence in the NDA’s victory under the BJP’s leadership. Commenting on Delhi’s political landscape, Shah remained unfazed by the alliance between the Congress and AAP, asserting the BJP’s dominance in the region.
Shah echoed Prime Minister Modi’s optimism for the upcoming elections, projecting a significant victory for the BJP and the NDA. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to a long-term agenda aimed at building a prosperous India, citing public trust as evidence of their vision’s resonance.
