Union Minister and prominent BJP leader, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, has spoken out against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s recent comments, branding them as divisive and insulting to the Hindu faith. Chandrasekhar condemned Gandhi’s use of the term ‘Shakti’ in a remark made during a speech in Maharashtra, stating that such language aimed to create divisions among communities.
Chandrasekhar emphasized his dismay at what he perceives as Gandhi’s confusing conduct in Bharatiya politics, labeling it as mystifying. He also took a dig at the Congress party’s performance in the 2014 and 2019 Lok Sabha elections, highlighting the significant difference in seats won by the party between the two elections.
Gandhi’s remarks, made during a speech in Maharashtra, raised concerns about the functioning of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the opposition’s struggle against the power of the state. He alleged that the integrity of EVMs had been compromised, along with the autonomy of various governmental institutions, which he claimed had surrendered to the ruling party.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) recently took action to ensure fair and transparent elections by ordering the removal of Home Secretaries in six states and the Secretary of the General Administrative Department in Mizoram and Himachal Pradesh. This move was hailed as a decisive step towards upholding democratic principles.
Responding to allegations leveled against him by opposition leader VD Satheeshan, Chandrasekhar dismissed them as part of the Congress party’s attempts to undermine BJP’s ideas of development and progress. He accused Congress of resorting to such tactics due to their inability to compete with BJP’s vision for the nation’s advancement.
Chandrasekhar further suggested that Congress’ allegations were part of a political strategy to forge connections between BJP and other parties, particularly the left in Kerala. He ridiculed the attempts, pointing out the irony of Congress and the left being partners in various contexts despite their apparent attempts to portray them as adversaries.
